Henri Cartier-Bresson: A Decisive Collection exhibition
More information on the Henri Cartier-Bresson: A Decisive Collection exhibition from Beetles and Huxley:
HENRI CARTIER-BRESSON: A DECISIVE COLLECTION
25 FEBRUARY - 26 MARCH 2015Born in 1908, Henri Cartier-Bresson was one of the most important photographers of the twentieth century. Best known for using a lightweight Leica camera to develop the concept of the "decisive moment", Cartier-Bresson transformed photojournalism into an artform that balanced powerful subject matter with perfectly timed, elegant composition.
Our exhibition is centered around a private collection of prints, curated according to the particular tastes and interests of the collector. As a result, the exhibition contains a fascinating balance of images, some of which are well-known and some of which are virtually unseen. In particular, the collection boasts several unusual sets of photographs including: Paris (particularly during the 1968 student protests); the USSR during the early 1970s; and celebrity portraiture an often overlooked element of Cartier-Bresson's oeuvre. The exhibition features portraits of sitters including Francis Bacon, Albert Camus, Coco Chanel, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Jean-Paul Sartre, Igor Stravinsky and other important cultural figures.
'Henri Cartier-Bresson: A Decisive Collection' will be presented in association with Leica, one of the world's most famous camera makers. Leica will be displaying a number of vintage cameras in the gallery, similar to ones used by Cartier-Bresson. The collaboration with Beetles+Huxley will also involve a variety of talks and events throughout the duration of the exhibition in celebration of the photographer's famous association with their brand.

This is the rumored Leica M-P (Typ 240) Lenny Kravitz limited edition camera
Last year I reported that Leica will announce a new M240 Lenny Kravitz edition camera. Well, the rumors were true - the new Leica M-P (Typ 240) Lenny Kravitz model will come in a kit with two different lenses: 35/2 ASPH and 50/1.4 ASPH. Only 120 pieces will be produced.
Developing story... stay tuned for updates.

Momenta Workshops, Leica Akademie Announce the 2015 Lineup
Momenta and Leica Camera announce The 2015 Project Series: Working With Nonprofits photography workshop lineup, including a series of one-day business skills workshops at Leica stores around the United States. This year’s workshops are hosted in New Orleans, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Colombia, and Sierra Leone.
February 11, 2015 - Momenta and Leica Camera announce The 2015 Project Series: Working With Nonprofits photography workshop lineup, including a series of one-day business skills workshops at Leica stores around the United States. This year’s workshops are hosted in New Orleans, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Colombia, and Sierra Leone.
Each Project workshop instructs participants in the art and business practice of working with nonprofits and NGOs as a sustainable business model.
“Momenta Workshops helps attendees discover how photography can be a positive force of change,” said Tom A. Smith, Manager of Leica Akademie, North America. “Leica Camera is proud to support their mission by allowing each person the opportunity to use a Leica camera to produce their photo stories on such relevant and moving topics.”
During the longer workshops, students receive a personal nonprofit photo story assignment, daily 1-on-1 editing sessions with an instructor to help develop a personal style, and nightly lectures. Likewise, the final day is an intensive seminar on business skills, as well as grant writing and crowd funding for personal projects.
“As we grow our lineup, we constantly strive to raise the bar and find new ways for photographers to learn better business skills and develop their own personal style,” said Jamie Rose, Director of Workshops & Founding Partner. “The experience is intense, educational, inspirational, and, honestly, immensely fun.”
In 2015, PhotoShelter named The Project Series the #2 best photography workshops occurring worldwide in their annual list. In 2013, Momenta was voted the International Reader’s Choice “Best Learning Vacation” by About.com.
